B7A4 Timing belt chanage. Don't know about Audi formally lowering the interval. I'm at 8 yrs and 107,000 km (65,000 mi) and will change within 3 months. I'd recommend changing no later than 80,000 mi. Timing belt change will always be cheaper than replacing valves :-) The parts for the timing belt change will be between $200- Itook our A4 in for servicing last month (a couple of weeks after its 5th anniversary) and was told after the service had been completed that the cambelt replacement was overdue as it should be replaced every 5 years. I was quoted over £700 for this. When I got home I checked the service book which stated that the cambelt Irecently had the same job done on a 2.0 VAG engine and the VW dealer informed me there was a special offer on at £475 for the belt, pump, guides and tensioner. No mention of this on the website which was still quoting full price.
